Each of us have faced challenges this last week and we have been able to deal with them with the support of each other.
Psychiatry & bi-polar was top of the list, one of our group friends had a visit to the Psychiatrist and he challenged their diagnosis of Bi-polar.
Apparently after a long stay in the mental health unit the label Bi-polar was issued and they was medicated accordingly.
Well the conclusion today, some years later is somewhat different!
The Psychiatrist’s opinion is that the individual hasn’t got bi-polar and never has, he believes the drugs they were taking at the time caused a contraindication, which caused the psychotic episode.
My member and the psychiatrist think it was just depression.
Don’t think by using the word “just” that I am negating the seriousness of depression, far from it!!
Depression is serious, it’s sneaky, it’s deceitful. It hits us when we least expect it, it incapacitates us, it slowly but surely destroys our life, which is why we must act now and not allow it.
Get to your GP, ask for help. Ask for a referral to a counsellor. Self refer yourself to your local Talking Therapy service. Get to a support group, a good one; one with a good reputation, one where members can tell you about their successes, their challenges and how the group input into their solutions.
I believe Just Listening to You provides this support, but my members will give you their opinions on how we help each other.
What do you guys think?
