Blue Monday Goes Pink!
So it’s “blue Monday” and I suppose we are all waiting to find out how blue we can possibly get.
I can tell you that the original Blue Monday was down to a simple algorithm or calculation from the travel industry, it doesn’t really correlate with people, the formula was was never meant to be related to a humans individual moods.
However, we have come to nurture it, come to dread it, hiding away, booking a holiday, anything not to be gulped up in the mania!
Blue Monday suddenly appeared …
It may be useful to know that it was in fact created in 2005 by a British holiday company. The idea was derived not from the results of any in-depth research, but instead by using a calculation involving such factors as current weather conditions and debt levels. However, while it had no basis in science, the idea caught on, and now many of us have come to dread it.
Blue? Not me, I choose …
Are you in control? Today, I am. I have chosen vey specifically not to believe about this Monday nonsense, it is simply a nonsense. I have chosen today to be a nice day, and don’t get me wrong, all of my issues do not disappear, but I see them in a different light. This is because I chose.
I am avoiding it, completely I hope. I had a lay in and didn’t give It any thought space until now, as I try to write about it.
So I am sitting here in my lounge, a relatively cold January day and I am looking into the garden, and it looks fresh, like fresh green.
Everything is growing, I’ve still got a few roses believe it or not, these should have stopped growing at the end of summer, and also I have winter bloomers in pots, bright pink in colour, no idea what they are!
No Blue Pots in the Garden
I can see my ornamental cherry tree; with flower baskets hung on to each limb; it looks beautiful, some with stunning winter flowers, maybe a weed or two. Chelsea garden show, eat your heart out!
Each of the hanging baskets have attached message cards covered with glitter and pretty pictures; friends have been invited to write anything they wish on the card and it is tied to the tree and off into the universe the thoughts joy, happiness, sorrow, a prayer for someone, off they go … you get it!
As well as hanging baskets, my friend Nick created a bird box and within a few days of going up, blue tits were checking out their potential new home. Bingo! We have a new family in the garden.
So what advice do I have today? Ignore the Blue Monday hype, it’s just spin to ensure the press has a story to magnify and have all of us worried for nothing!
Have a warm drink, decaffeinated, we all know caffeine is bad for us, right? Well, if you didn’t, you do now.
Place your chair where you can see the garden, simply watch the goings and comings of nature; you will experience new things.
Read a relaxing book, listen to music, meditate, dose off … Do what it takes to maintain your mental well-being and keep any form of depressive illness at the door. Ignoring Blue Monday!
Capitalise on the light, every day it is getting lighter; appreciate it, walk in it, go in to your garden, a park and live that light. Your brain releases happy chemicals when it gets stimulated.
If only life was that easy? Well, it can be, but this depends on your attitude to life and how you chose to live today.
If you are trapped by your thoughts?
